Survivor – Eye of the tiger 1982
Survivor es una banda estadounidense de AOR (Adult Oriented Rock), formada en 1977 por los miembros fundadores Jim Peterik y Frankie Sullivan. La banda alcanzó su mayor éxito en los 80s con muchos singles en lo más alto de las listas, sobre todo en su país. Son sobre todo conocidos por los éxitos “Eye of the Tiger“, el tema principal de “Rocky III” en 1982. Otros singles como “Burning Heart” (n.º 2 en EE.UU.), “The Search Is Over (n.º 4) y “High on You” (n.º 8) mantuvieron al grupo en lo más alto de las listas. (Wikipedia)
En 1982, Silvester Stallone se preparaba para actuar en la secuela 3 de la película Rocky y estaba buscando un tema con cierto perfil que le interesaba.
Se reunió con la Banda y les dijo que honestamente el tema que le había parecido el más acorde a la trama y estilo de la película era “Another one Bites the Dust” éxito imponente de la banda Inglesa Queen, pero que lograr los derechos del tema para su película era un imposible.
Survivor le presentó “Eye of the Tiger”, que se convirtió en un éxito de inmediato y llevó a la banda a los primeros planos y a ser un recuerdo inolvidable en la historia del Rock.
